Ellice Tanner was founded by Keith Tanner who first began legal practice in Hamilton in 1951.  His father was one of the early partners in Tanner Fitzgerald Getty which was founded in the early 1900s.  Keith was a partner of that firm for many years and then began practice on his own in 1990.  He was joined in partnership by Paul Ellice eight years later, practicing together as Ellice Tanner. Since then we have been joined (as consultants) by Ian Davidson from Stace Hammond and Murray Bindon from Norris Ward McKinnon.  Both Ian and Murray have many years experience having come to us from very established and highly respected Hamilton law firms.

The firm’s head office is in Hamilton (Level 4, 11 Garden Place) and we opened a branch office in Cambridge (47 Alpha St, Cambridge) in 2009 when we acquired the legal practice of Chris Giddens trading as “Tristram Law”.

In 2009 we also acquired the legal practice of Athol Bishop.
